When is heavier, lighter? In the case of Strider's Ranger Sword. It is longer, heavier, bigger in every way when compared to Theoden's sword, but it seems lighter. It has to do with the balance.Theoden's sword is 30 inches long, and is a one handed short sword. Strider's 36 inch sword has however a much longer two handed hilt, which shifts the balance farther back toward the handle. The difference being that part of the weight is better distributed with the long handle acting as a counter balance to the blade. This blade has a very good balance as such, and does not seem to tire your wrist because of this feature. Its amazing what a good design can do to alleviate the heavier weight, and I am speaking of using it with one hand. With two hands it seems almost a featherweight.
Regardless, a great blade.
