The Swords of the Competition Samurai Sword Series are fine examples of a time-honored
sword maker’s art. They are made the traditional way and can be easily disassembled for
cleaning and maintenance.
This authentic, fully functional Samurai sword by United® Cutlery is made using only the
finest traditional materials. Features include a high carbon spring steel blade control
hardened to 47-50 HRC, an authentic tsuba (guard), fuchi (collar), kashiri (pommel),
genuine samé (rayskin) covered grip with leather cord wrap, and a real wood saya (scabbard).
The tang of each blade is also marked with the mei, the swordsmith’s signature.
Each UC1481 is presented with a protective black cloth pouch and a Sword Care Kit
(UC1480, also sold separately). The kit includes everything necessary for basic sword
care: (1. Brass awl/hammer to easily dismantle the sword, 2. Rice paper for cleaning oil
from the blade, polishing and spreading oil on the blade, 3. Extra-large uchiko powder
ball; the pad contains non-abrasive powder that absorbs extra cleaning oil, 4. Bottle of
choji oil, to prevent rusting, and 5. Plastic container to store an oiled cloth).
